Family Nurse Practitioner Programs (FNP)

A Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) is a registered nurse who has completed an Masters in Nursing . This education includes assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute illnesses, as well as management of common and complex medical conditions. Nurses in the profession pay special attention to the family dynamic and how illness affects the family as a whole. The FNP collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to meet the holistic needs of the client across the lifespan (pediatrics through geriatrics). FNPs are equipped to work in a variety of settings, including but not limited to, primary care, specialty care, private practices, government organizations community health organizations, as well as other health care organizations. Nurse practitioners have varying levels of autonomy based upon individual states and regulations. In some states, nurse practitioners may often function independently of physician involvement.
